Application overview

The Start Strong for Community Preschools program provides funding to deliver affordable quality preschool education for 3 to 5 year old children enrolled in eligible community and mobile preschools in NSW.

Service providers should read all the details in the Start Strong for Community Preschools program guidelines before completing this application form. The current program guidelines can be found here

The information submitted in this application will be assessed against the funding eligibility criteria. The approval of funding applications and provision of ongoing funding is at the discretion of the NSW Department of Education (the department) Early Childhood Outcomes division.

There are four main sections to this application:

  1. Applicant information
  2. Service type and funding
  3. Preschool program
  4. Community needs analysis and service viability

You will be asked to upload evidence to support your application. Individual child information is not collected at this point of the application.

Service eligibility criteria for community preschools (Not Applicable)

To be eligible for funding as a community or mobile preschool, providers must meet all of the following criteria:

  • be a not-for-profit, community-based preschool or mobile preschool service
  • be an approved early childhood education and care service under the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 (National Law) and Education and Care Services National Regulations
  • deliver a quality early childhood education program by a qualified early childhood teacher in accordance with the requirements under the National Quality Framework, including using the Early Years Learning FrameworkExternal link
  • comply with the Early Childhood Outcomes Commissioned Programs – Funding Agreement – Terms and Conditions (Terms and Conditions).

Services must take reasonable steps to deliver 600 hours of quality preschool to all children enrolled at the service.

This application will require you to upload evidence against some of the funding eligibility criteria.

Service eligibility criteria for long day care adding community preschool (Not Applicable)

This section is not applicable because of your response to question: "Please select the option that best represents the intended operating model of the service" on page 1

To be eligible for funding as a community or mobile preschool, providers must meet all of the following criteria:

  • be a not-for-profit long day care applying to add preschool places
  • be an approved early childhood education and care service under the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 (National Law) and Education and Care Services National Regulations
  • deliver a quality early childhood education program by a qualified early childhood teacher in accordance with the requirements under the National Quality Framework, including using the Early Years Learning FrameworkExternal link
  • comply with the Early Childhood Outcomes Commissioned Programs – Funding Agreement – Terms and Conditions (Terms and Conditions).

Services must take reasonable steps to deliver 600 hours of quality preschool to all children enrolled at the service.
